Backup Power

The need for backup power in most communities is fundamental to growth and development; however, power in remote locations is especially critical. PwrPac is helping the State of Texas build its energy independence and providing backup power in the remote locations where it's needed most. We will design, procure, construct, develop, operate, and maintain a lithium-ion-based Renewable (solar) Battery Energy Electricity Storage System (RBESS) coupled with a solar PV array with the total system rated at 1 MW power capacity and 1 MWh energy capacity along TX-349 in Martin County, Texas, approx. 18 miles North of I-20 along TX-349. The system will be maintained for a minimum period of 7 years and is primarily intended to help the Texas electric grid with resilience and support in times of load shedding or peak loads, as determined by the electric utility. The grant is funded by TERP and consists of 590k USD in matching costs for the development.

In emergencies, diagnostic, and monitoring systems, including CT scanners, MRI machines, and X-rays, require consistent power to support the diagnosis and treatment of communities affected. Additionally, critical patient monitoring systems provide real-time updates on vital signs, and any disruption could jeopardize the care being provided. 

The operating rooms cannot function without the power needed for the lights, ventilators, and anesthesia machines. Any power loss during surgery could lead to life-threatening situations for patients undergoing procedures.
